Our Story
Hello! Thank you for visiting our site and learning a little more about who we are. We are Shawn and Debbie Robison. We were high school sweethearts and married in 1984, one year after graduating from New Albany High School. From our beginning as a couple, we both had a desire to serve others and hearts for individuals with “special needs”. I pursued degrees in psychology, sociology, and a master’s degree in Social Work. My career has been in varied settings, from educational to medical, to management and administration in the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Shawn had a long, successful career in customer service in the airline industry, education field, 1:1 service with an individual with disabilities, and in nonprofit ministry. After raising five children, and the arrival of the empty nest years, we began to consider what the next phase would look like. Our experience in the field of IDD helped us realize gaps in services and limited available opportunities. We also felt a desire to offer more focused services. We founded Audience of One Services, Inc. in 2021 as a result of God’s calling. The established service providers in the area were already facing extreme staffing shortages. And then came COVID-19…
We don’t need to tell you how COVID-19 affected things, but suffice it to say that it was mostly negative! We say mostly because one positive outcome was a stronger personal commitment to serving this population by establishing Audience of One Services, Inc. We identified four areas in which we believed we could have a positive impact. That became our mission statement, and remains our focus today. Our goal is to come alongside individuals, families, and service providers and fill in the gaps. We desire to offer alternatives and additional opportunities, not to compete with what is currently working. We hope to be a responsive agency which works in conjunction with other service providers and partners with the individual, their team, and the community to provide meaningful opportunities which add to quality of life.
We also hope that we can be a resource for the community. We want to provide support and education to anyone with a need. By working together as a community, we can continue to eliminate barriers and embrace and respect individuals of all abilities for who they are. Join us on our journey by asking questions, volunteering, donating to our cause, or encouraging and praying for us. We are so thankful for all the individuals who have believed in our vision and have come alongside us to make Audience of One Services, Inc. a reality. All glory to God, our audience of one.
Mission Statement
The mission of Audience of One Services, Inc. is to provide services to individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities which will improve life skills, enhance social skills and relationships, encourage community connection and engagement, and increase job skills and employment opportunities.
